Arriving in Costa Rica

Arriving in Costa Rica

From Gavin

Hi, my name is Gavin. I'm from Atlanta and I'm going on this trip to Costa Rica for 2 months.  I left for Costa Rica on May 17th and it has been an adventure ever since.  It was very stressful getting here because I was worried that something bad would happen to the plane. Luckily nothing happened and it was a smooth 4-hour plane trip to Costa Rica.

The car ride from the airport to the car rental place was fun because I got to talk to a lot of people. It took a long time to get a rental car, but after we went and got lunch.  I ate a lot. I had a giant burger with some french fries and a Costa Rican 7-Up. They had a bunch of other thing on the menu like a plate that had rice, beans, fish and a bunch of other things.

Before we got to the house that we were staying in we went to a Costa Rican Walmart and we got a lot of food.  I was not really expecting anything. But the prices may look like a lot but they are just Costa Rican dollars. We are living in a gated community for now and then next month we are going to another house for the rest of our stay. Something that surprised me about the house we were staying in was how warm the pool here was. The pool is really big and it has a bar area a rock looking wall and they have a decent size kiddie pool for your young ones

My first impressions of Costa Rica is that it is hot and very humid at night.  Also, Costa Rica is a very tropical place with a lot of plants and beautiful animals. We saw lots of birds like for example we saw a macaw. I'm looking forward to just relaxing in the pool and not going anywhere else for the next month and I'm also looking forward to tanning in the nice Costa Rican sun which is so much hotter than the sun I'm used to in Atlanta. I suggest that if you do come here and you tan easily you should bring lots of sunscreen.

In conclusion, Costa Rica is a beautiful country where you can have so many adventures and it is a great place for a vacation. If you wanna learn a new language like Spanish costa Rica is a good place to be. It’s full of tropical  plants and wonderful creatures.

From Onyx

For me, Onyx, The trip to Costa Rica was very long. I'm from Connecticut (CT) so I had to wake up at 1 AM United States ((US) Eastern Standard Time (EST). My mom, dad, and I all got ready and left for the airport around 2:20 AM US EST and got there around 3:45 AM EST. After getting passed check in and security we got on our plane at about 5:30 AM EST. We took off on our way to Georgia. We made it to Georgia at about 8 AM EST. We met up with Gavin and his mom at the terminal we were meeting at. All of us were there for about an hour before boarding the plane.

We boarded the plane at 9:30 AM US EST. We landed in Costa Rica at about 12:30 PM, CST. When we walked outside to get escorted to get our rental car, the first thing I noticed was the heat. It was very hot and I was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. When we got in our van to be escorted, Gavin was squeaking to other visitors about anything and everything. When we got to the Enterprise, which was where we were getting out of our rental car, we were there for about an hour. After we got our car we went to a local restaurant and had our first meal of the day.

After we finished eating I got a stomach ache. We drove to Walmart and I stayed back in the car and played on my Nintendo switch. After everyone else got back from Walmart we drove for about 2 hours maybe. I was asleep most of that time. Finally after being confused and searching for our Air B&B we found it and settled in. One thing I noticed is that Costa Rican coins feel different than American coins. Costa Rican coins feel more like plastic, unlike American coins which feel like metal. Overall, the first day was a success getting from point A to point B.
